Dexter's a certified genius without a care in the world. He gave up on the schooling, the pressure, and the future to go fuck around in Vegas for the rest of his life, and he almost never regrets it. Almost.
friends; Dex makes a few friends here and there, but the trust thing generally deteriorates the relationship when the friends discover that his past isn't something he ever discusses. But the ones that can get past that are the ones worth keeping, in his opinion.

lovers; Dexter's had boyfriends before. Hell, he was even in love once. But the relationships never last. It's the 'trust' thing tenfold. Not to mention that the constant Trek references can set a guy on edge. Some part of him wants to settle down, to find someone, but that part of him never wins.
